Do you like helping customers solve technical problems? Would you like to do this using the latest Microsoft .NET technologies? Do you have a knack for helping non-technical stakeholders to understand architecture and integration approaches, and the consultative and leadership skills to successfully launch high-profile web applications and marketing sites?
The Solution Architect will be responsible for the architecture and technical design of web applications and integrated web marketing solutions – including both Greenfield projects as well as enhancements to existing projects and ongoing development of interrelated projects for a wide range of international clients.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Working with client(s), project manager(s) and other project stakeholders to scope each customer engagement, with attention towards achieving clear and well-defined objectives and success criteria.
- Generating consistent and complete high-level software requirements, based on customer needs, as well as technical and other constraints such as budget and schedule.
- Working with design and development teams during the project lifecycle to resolve any technical problems in accordance with the fundamental architectural concepts, end user needs and scope/budget constraints.
- Generating product designs, sketches, working models and user guides, to keep the client and the developers constantly up to date and in agreement on the system requirements, should they evolve.
- Generating technical risk assessments, roll-out plans and contingency plans to ensure situational requirements of change control.
- Generating acceptance test requirements as well as ensuring completed solutions achieve high standards of code quality, are robust, can scale well and support high volumes of traffic, and do not create unnecessary application dependencies.
- Conducting QA, together with the client(s), project manager(s), design & IA teams and other project stakeholders to determine that all high level requirements have been met, with attention towards the user interaction and usability.
- Own each engagement, and help ensure a timely and successful delivery of value.
Required Skills / Experience
- Exceptional knowledge in architecting high performance, high availability websites on the Microsoft .NET 3.5 and SQL Server 2008 platform.
- Proven and extensive experience working as a Solutions Architect or Development Lead within a software development or digital consultancy, and of leading small development teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Exceptional knowledge in all aspects of the following technologies with a proven track record of using them successfully within a web environment - C#, Microsoft.NET 3.5, LINQ, ASP.NET, AJAX, Web Services (including WCF, SOA and REST), HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT.
- Thorough understanding of the security and performance implications associated with web technologies.
- Thorough understanding of software design and component design techniques, including design patterns.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of successful solution delivery.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organisations.
- Technical degree required; Computer Science or Maths background highly desired; working knowledge of software development practices and technologies highly desired.
