The Meningitis Research Foundation – iPhone app
Challenge
The MRF have been a client of fuse8 for a number of years and, having delivered their award-winning website in 2009 the charity tasked the agency with devising and deploying the foundation onto an entirely new digital platform for them – the iPhone.
Solution
To coincide with Meningitis Awareness Week, fuse8 delivered ‘Bug Blaster’ – a simple but addictive game that users control using the iPhone’s Accelerometer, supported by a set of awareness and diagnostic tips about both Meningitis and Septicaemia. The app also includes details about the users nearest Accident and Emergency unit, a news feed on the subject and a selection of fund raising challenges from the organisation. Social media feeds to post the users score on Twitter and Facebook from Bug Blaster are also included.
Results
The app presently has a 4.5 star rating in the App Store and has received some great reviews on both the technical and creative implementation as well as on the benefits of the core information, with comments such as ‘Excellent game and application that could easily become a lifesaver’ particularly telling. As part of an expanding series of touch-points fuse8 are working on for the foundation, the app is already finding a new audience to spread the foundations word.
