fuse8’s creative team has helped Calderdale Council win a gold award for internal communications at the CIPR PRide Awards 2008.
The inspirational ‘Grasp the Nettle’ campaign was the brainchild of the Council’s corporate communications team and was devised to reduce staff complacency, challenge existing workplace processes and encourage employees to think of innovative ideas to improve the way they work.
fuse8 worked with the corporate communications team to expand and develop their ideas and created an impactful and inspiring design concept, which delivered simple straightforward messages that encouraged immediate action.
Postcards were designed so staff could write down how they themselves could ‘grasp the nettle’ and make pledges to change the way they worked. Screensavers, posters, calendars, pens and mugs were all part of the branding collateral, so the ‘Grasp the Nettle’ ethos was a constant presence in the working environment.
“Winning the PRide Award is a great honour, but we couldn’t have done it without fuse8 so I’d like to say a big thank you to the all the team.”
Louise Tonkinson, head of communications at Calderdale Council, commented: “The campaign has made a real impact throughout Calderdale Council, with many ideas being put forward as to how our service can be improved. It became clear just in the first few months that staff at the Council have a real desire to improve the quality of life for residents and businesses in the area. The Grasp the Nettle campaign and the way it has been implemented has been fundamental in finding the ideas that will motivate change.”
Louise added: “Winning the PRide Award is a great honour, but we couldn’t have done it without fuse8 so I’d like to say a big thank you to the all the team.”
